Freehit on an iPhone or iPad
There is no Freehit in the App Store, nothing to buy and nothing to download: Safari plays the site as it is. Putting it on the Home Screen takes four taps and gives it an icon that opens full screen, without Safari's bars. The steps are the same on an iPad; only the Share button sits elsewhere.
1Use Safari, not Chrome
Only Safari can add a site to the Home Screen on an iPhone. If freehit.st is open in Chrome, Firefox or inside another app, copy the address and open it in Safari first.
2Tap Share
With the match list showing, tap Share: the square with the upward arrow, at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone and next to the address bar at the top on an iPad.
3Find “Add to Home Screen”
The sheet lists people and apps first; slide it upwards until Add to Home Screen shows, and tap it.
4Tap Add
The name Freehit is already filled in. Tap Add, top right, and the icon is on the Home Screen. Tap it and the matches open full screen.
Questions
Can a match be sent to the television from here?
Yes: open the match, then use Screen Mirroring in Control Centre to an Apple TV or an AirPlay set. The TV page has that and the other ways.
The icon opens, but inside Safari
It was added from another browser's share menu. Delete that icon (hold it, then Delete Bookmark) and add it again from Safari, as above.
Will the picture keep going with the screen off?
No. Like any web video it pauses when the iPhone locks. Setting Auto-Lock to Never (Settings, Display & Brightness) for the length of the match avoids that.
Is any of this paid for?
None of it, now or later. A page asking for a card in Freehit's name is not Freehit.
