Freehit on an Android home screen

Nothing on Freehit needs installing and nothing costs money, so this page is only about convenience: an icon that opens the month's matches without the address being typed, full screen, no browser bars. Chrome has two routes to it and Samsung Internet a third. None downloads a file or asks for a permission.

Looking for a file to download? There is no Freehit APK, and nothing is sold.

1Route one: the bar Chrome shows by itself

Open freehit.st in Chrome. On many phones a bar appears along the bottom of the page offering Install app or Add Freehit to Home screen. Tap it, confirm in the small box that follows, and the icon is on the home screen. That is the whole job.

2Route two: through Chrome's menu

No bar? Tap the three dots in the top right of Chrome, then Install app or Add to Home screen, whichever the phone offers; they do the same thing. Confirm with Install (or Add).

Xiaomi, Redmi, Oppo and Vivo phones

Some of these ask once whether Chrome may place icons on the home screen. Allow it, then repeat the route; the icon appears on the next try.

3Route three: Samsung Internet

On a Samsung phone using its own browser, tap the three lines at the bottom right of the screen, then Add page to, then Home screen, then Add. A small install badge in the address bar, when it appears, is a shortcut to the same place.

✓That's it

The icon opens Freehit full screen; a tap on a match starts the player. Nothing further is ever asked for, and the TV page is there when the match should be on a bigger screen.

Questions

Chrome only offers "Create shortcut"

A shortcut opens the site with Chrome's bars around it. Dismiss it, open freehit.st once more and try route one or two again; Install is the option that gives the full-screen icon.

Nothing in the menu mentions installing

The page was opened from inside WhatsApp, Facebook or another app, in that app's own mini-browser, which cannot add icons. Long-press the link, copy it, open Chrome and paste it there.

Will it ask for money later?

No. Freehit has no paid tier, no trial and no card form. An icon on the home screen changes nothing about that; it is the same free site.

How is it removed?

Long-press the icon and choose Uninstall or Remove, as with any app. The phone keeps nothing else.
